Google is finally redesigning it's awful Android emojis

You may like or hate them but Google is totally redesigning its blob-like emojis for the upcoming Android O.
The new ones will look more like its iPhone and Samsung counterparts. Google also announced full compatibility with Emoji 5.0 which means a slew of new emojis will also be included with the redesigned ones.

It took 18 months for Google to work on the redesign according to Fast Company.
Gus Fonts, product manager of Android had this to say
"We took a look at many things, but mostly the thing that's most striking is, perhaps, that yes, the candy dots or blobs, are now substituted with a set of squishy circles -- for a lot of good reasons"
This move will mark the end of an era as the blob like emojis have been in existence since Android 4.4 in 2013.
Part of the reason for this change is to make it easier for Android users to communicate with people using devices that don't run Android.
Google also took out some gender stereotypes in the new emojis by removing pink and red from emojis and so on.
It was briefly mentioned that you'll be able to download your own custom emoji packs and fonts for Android O but it seems that these new ones are the system default.
The emoji doesn't have a release date yet but is expected to launch with Android O this year. You can get the developer beta version of Android O here.
Goodbye
