Andy Rubin finally releases his new Essential smartphone and it's beautiful

After months of speculation and anticipation, former Android co-creator Andy Rubin has finally unveiled the first device for his new company, Essential.

The PH-1 (as it's called) is a beauty. It comes with a flawless edge-to-edge display and a Gorilla Glass screen. The device has a titanium back and a ceramic body which the company says will beat other phones in terms of durability. The front camera is also situated directly in the middle at the top of the screen.

The phone packs quite a punch. It comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB internal storage and a 3,040mAh battery. It has a screen size of 5.71inches with a QHD resolution of 2560×1312 as well as a 19:10 aspect ratio. The rear camera comes dually with 13MP and image fusion technology and with the front camera at 8MP capable of recording at 4K resolution.

Other accessories include a detachable 360-degree camera capable of shooting spherical UHD (3840x1920) images at 30fps and a wireless charging dock similar to Motorola's Moto Mods.

The phone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will work together with another of Essential's new devices called the Essential Home which is a smart home device. It'll run on its own platform called Ambient OS.

Sadly enough, the phone doesn't have a headphone jack (ugh) as The Verge reports, instead, it'll come with a dongle since it's banking on USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity.

The phone costs $699 or $749 if you're getting the bundled 360 cameras and will come in four colors, Black Moon, Stellar Grey, Pure White and Ocean Depths.

You can pre-order the phones now on the official website.
